"Having two feet on American soil makes you as American as anyone."
The next time you walk down the street, sit down for dinner at a restaurant or gather with family and friends for a holiday, ask yourself this. "What makes me, or anyone here more American than anyone else here?" The most likely answer is "nothing, we are all American, as simple as that". So why is it that so many in the media enjoy bashing Americans? Does it matter if they are only bashing on so-called group? In my mind, we are all Americans, we are all America and as long as we stand united as one, you can not degrade one of us without degrading all of us.
We have seen this hate and resentment before. What do I mean by "resentment"? The resentment for how each and every American Immigrant had a dream, worked hard and now have the opportunity (thanks to what American stands for) to turn their dreams, the American Dream, into reality.
This cowardly speech has been all too common in our history. When so-called "different" people come to our nation. When my ancestors first came to America, the Irish were despised and attacked by a small ruthless group with a loud mouth and no honor. Then Italians came to our great Nation and it seemed as if this radical group grew leaps and bounds, they had not, they only spewed louder.
The sad truth is that this same radical group likes to attack anyone they consider different. Irish, Italian, gay, black, Jewish and now American Immigrants of today, Latinos. Why have these same radicals change who they are attacking every so often? The answer is simple, because after attacking the Irish, Italians, Jews, gays and blacks for so long, it just failed to work like it used to. America woke up, stood up and demanded that this hatred for America was unacceptable and that it be abolished.
It is time we stand up for all Americans, especially those working hard that need our help the most. It is time we stand up for the American Immigrant, it is time we stand up for America!
